Author Guidelines

1. Introduction

Welcome to the Eureka Journal Author Guidelines page. This document provides comprehensive instructions to help you prepare and submit your manuscript for consideration. Adhering to these guidelines ensures a smooth submission process and increases the likelihood of your work being accepted for publication.

2. Read the Aims and Scopes of Eureka

Eureka is dedicated to publishing high-quality research that bridges the social and natural sciences. Our journal seeks to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and advance knowledge across diverse fields. To ensure your manuscript aligns with our publication objectives, we strongly encourage you to review the detailed Aims and Scopes before submission.

Submitting work that falls outside our defined scope may result in immediate rejection. By thoroughly understanding our journal's focus areas, you can save valuable time and increase the chances of your manuscript being considered for publication.

3. Prepare Your Manuscript

Preparing your manuscript according to our guidelines is crucial for a successful submission. Please follow the checklist below to ensure your work meets all necessary criteria.

3.1 Submission Checklist

  • ✔️ Read the Content Type: Familiarize yourself with the different manuscript types accepted by Eureka, including Research Articles, Research Reports, Reproducibility Reports, Brief Reports, Reviews, and Perspectives. Detailed information can be found on the Content Type page.
  • ✔️ Manuscript Requirements: Ensure your manuscript adheres to the specific requirements for word count, number of references, figures, tables, abstract, supplementary materials, and peer review criteria based on your chosen content type.
  • ✔️ Author Contributions: Provide a clear statement in the manuscript or cover letter detailing each author's specific contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.
  • ✔️ Double-Blind Peer Review Compliance: For manuscripts undergoing double-blind peer review, anonymize all submitted files by removing identifying information, including author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and funding details. Ensure that self-citations in the reference list are formatted appropriately without revealing authorship.
  • ✔️ Figures and Tables: Verify that all figures and tables meet the resolution and format requirements. Figures should be at least 300 dpi and can be submitted in formats such as PSD, AI, EPS, TIFF, JPG, PDF (with vector support), PNG, PS, GIF, PPT, PPTX, BMP, VSD, CDX, SVG, EMF, and XLSX.
  • ✔️ Submission Format: Submit your manuscript in either Word or LaTeX format. PDF submissions are not accepted as they hinder the editorial process.
  • ✔️ Supplementary Materials: Any supplementary materials, including appendices, datasets, or additional figures, should be submitted as separate files. Clearly label each supplementary file and reference them appropriately within the main manuscript.
  • ✔️ Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the research outcomes. This disclosure must be included within the manuscript.

3.2 Detailed Instructions

3.2.1 Author Contributions

Authorship in Eureka reflects substantial intellectual contribution and accountability in the research process. Each author should have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of the content. One or more authors should take responsibility for the integrity of the work as a whole, from inception to the published article. According to the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), authorship credit should be based on the following four criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to conception or design of the work, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work;
  2. Drafting of the work or reviewing it critically for important intellectual content;
  3. Final approval of the version to be published;
  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Each author should be accountable for the parts of the work he or she has done. In addition, each author should be able to identify which coauthors are responsible for specific other parts of the work and should have confidence in the integrity of the contributions of any coauthors.

All those designated as authors should meet all four criteria for authorship, and all who meet the four criteria should be identified as authors. Those who do not meet all four criteria should be acknowledged.

The authors also must certify that the manuscript represents valid work and that neither this manuscript nor one with substantially similar content under their authorship has been published or is being considered for publication elsewhere (see also About Previous Release of Information, Embargo, and Access). Authors of manuscripts reporting original data or systematic reviews must provide an access to data statement from one or two named authors, often the corresponding author (see also Data Access, Responsibility, and Analysis). If requested, authors should be prepared to provide the data and must cooperate fully in obtaining and providing the data on which the manuscript is based for examination by the editors or their assignees.

It is crucial for authors to ensure that all contributions are accurately represented and that the integrity of the work is maintained throughout the research and publication process. Proper attribution and accountability help uphold the standards of academic excellence and foster trust within the scholarly community.

3.2.2 Double-Blind Peer Review

To maintain the integrity of the blind review process, ensure that all submitted files are anonymized. This includes:

  • Removing author names and affiliations from the manuscript.
  • Omitting acknowledgments, funding information, and any other details that could identify the authors.
  • Keeping self-citations in the reference list unaltered, without adding phrases like "In our previous work" or "(XXX et al., 2012)".
  • Ensuring that the cover letter DOES contain identifying information when required.

More details please reference our Peer Review Process.

Note: The cover letter is mandatory for manuscripts undergoing peer review. It should not contain any identifying information and would not be shared with reviewers.

3.2.3 Figures and Tables

Ensure that all figures and tables are included with your manuscript submission. Adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Figures must be in high resolution (300 dpi or higher).
  • Accepted file formats include PSD, AI, EPS, TIFF, JPG, PDF (with vector support), PNG, PS, GIF, PPT, PPTX, BMP, VSD, CDX, SVG, EMF, and XLSX.

3.2.4 Submission Formats

Manuscripts should be submitted in either Microsoft Word or LaTeX format. PDF submissions are not accepted as they complicate the editorial process.

3.2.5 Supplementary Materials

Any supplementary materials, such as appendices, datasets, or additional figures, should be submitted as separate files. Clearly label each supplementary file (e.g., "Supplementary File 1") and reference them appropriately within the main manuscript.

3.2.6 Conflict of Interest Disclosure

Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research outcomes. This disclosure should be included within the manuscript. Failure to disclose conflicts of interest may result in rejection of the manuscript.

4. Guarantee Ethical Standards

Ensuring that your research adheres to ethical standards is paramount. Please refer to our Research Ethics section for detailed guidelines. Key points include:

  • Human Participants: Research involving human subjects must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and obtain approval from an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee. Include the committee's name and reference number in your manuscript.
  • Informed Consent: Ensure that informed consent was obtained from all participants involved in the study.
  • Ethical Treatment: Maintain the highest standards of ethical treatment for all research participants, including anonymity and confidentiality where applicable.

Non-compliance with ethical standards will result in the rejection of the manuscript.

5. Open Access

Eureka is an open-access journal dedicated to the free dissemination of knowledge. Authors are responsible for understanding the principles and benefits of open access publishing.

Article Processing Charge (APC): To cover the costs associated with publication and ensure the sustainability of open access, APCs are applied to accepted manuscripts. For a summary of our APC rates and information on funding options, please refer to our Article Processing Charge (APC) Policy section.

7. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Authorship

Policy on AI Tools: Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, do not qualify as authors of manuscripts submitted to Eureka. Authorship implies responsibility and accountability for the content, which cannot be attributed to AI tools.

If you have utilized AI tools in the preparation of your manuscript, you must acknowledge their use in the Methods section or another appropriate part of the manuscript. Proper documentation ensures transparency in the research process.

8. Submission

Once your manuscript is thoroughly prepared and complies with all the guidelines outlined above, please submit your work through our Online Submission System. Ensure that you have completed all necessary sections and provided all required information to facilitate the review process.

By following these guidelines, you contribute to maintaining the high standards of Eureka and support the advancement of knowledge across disciplines.
